A Perfect Recipe for a More Organized Kitchen
(ARA) - Whether it's overstuffed drawers or hard-to-reach cabinets or wasted
counter space, every kitchen could use some organizational help. But can you
really improve your kitchen without expensive renovation costs?
Minnesota-based Rockler Woodworking and Hardware has all the ingredients to help
you create a more organized and user-friendly kitchen. They offer a wide variety
of kitchen storage options that can be installed in less time than it takes to
whip up a soufflé -- and far more easily, too.
According to Tom Lucas of Rockler's Product Development group, "When you talk
about kitchen organization, most people think about cabinets and cabinet add-ons
-- and that's a big category -- but there are other products that may not be as
top-of-mind but will have a definite impact on making optimum use of even small
spaces."
Think, for instance, of the space in front of your sink. One of Rockler's
surprising big sellers is their sink-front tray set, which allows the
transformation of false sink fronts into valuable storage space, even in narrow,
galley-style kitchens. There is a double tip-out tray which measures 11-1/4 inch
long or a custom tray that can be cut to fit spaces up to 36 inches in length.
Each is available in white or almond and retails for $17.99 to $23.99.
Then there are easy-to-install products that not only aid in organizing, but add
a decorative touch as well. One is Rockler's hardwood "appliance garage." The
garage is available as a straight or corner unit in solid oak, maple, hickory or
cherry. It allows you to keep small appliances such as mixers, blenders, or
coffee makers on hand but out of sight.
Another product that adds style to substance is the wicker basket pullout. It's
an easy and eye-catching alternative to drawers that can be installed with just
a few simple tools. The prices on the wicker baskets are $79.99 for the 15-inch
and $84.99 for the 18-inch version.
In a more utilitarian vein, Rockler also offers recycling container pullouts
that fit discreetly under a sink. These are available with single or double
bins, in either a door mount or bottom mount configuration. Both styles feature
a smooth-riding, full-extension Accuride slide. And to help keep cookie sheets,
pans and trays organized, there is the tray divider, which fits easily into a
cabinet using just a few screws and some fastening clips.
Says Lucas, "It is amazing how easy it is to add a great deal of efficiency to
your kitchen for a small amount of money. Most of these products are under $100
and you don't need a lot of tools or expertise to install them." Which probably
means you will have more success with these than you would with keeping that
soufflé from falling.
