Wall Murals Provide a Focal Point for Revamping Boring Rooms
(ARA) - So your living room (or family room, bedroom or bathroom) is ready for a
drastic change and complete redecoration. There's only one problem -- what to do
with it? Many times, even though you know you have to do something, it's not
necessarily easy to figure out what that "something" should be.
A visit to a home improvement store can be more confusing than helpful. Having
50 shades of blue to choose from doesn't exactly narrow down your options.
Likewise, if you've searched for wallpaper, you know that the sample books alone
could fill a room.
Short of hiring an interior decorator, how can you get started? Experts
recommend choosing one focal point for your room. That can be a beautiful piece
of furniture, a treasured family heirloom or a fabulous painting. Once you pick
your focal point, the rest of the room will naturally evolve around it.
If you don't have a special piece that can serve as your focal point, you need
to create one. Environmental Graphics (EGI), a Hopkins, Minn.-based home décor
company, offers wall murals that are a perfect starting point for designing a
room. Whether you're looking for serenity or sophistication, the murals can help
set the mood for the rest of your decorating choices.
For a family room you can relax in, you might start with the Hawaiian Sunset or
Oriental Gardens mural. Not only can you draw your colour palette from the
mural, but you can accessorize the room in appropriate accents to carry out the
theme. For example, in the Hawaiian Sunset room you could use a few pieces of
rattan furniture, island print fabrics and tropical plants.
If your room doesn't have a view, but you wish it did, perhaps the Manhattan
Lights mural, featuring a nighttime view of the New York City skyline, is for
you. Hang this mural and then fill the room with sleek, sophisticated furniture
and accessories for an urban feel.
For the sports fan in your house, why not decorate the family room with the Tony
Stewart NASCAR mural, or the Play Ball mural that makes you feel as if you're
standing in a baseball stadium? For kid's rooms, the Daydreaming mural features
fluffy white clouds on a sky-blue background, sure to encourage sweet dreams.
EGI's wall murals are printed on high-quality paper and come with specially
formulated paste, making them easy to install and easy to remove without
damaging wall surfaces. At more than 13 feet by 8 feet, the murals transform a
room in a way artwork or wallpaper cannot, for around $100.
"A wall mural can transform a room into whatever you want it to be, from a haven
for daydreaming to a peaceful place to gather and reflect on the day's events,"
says Todd Imholte, president of Environmental Graphics.
For a full-colour brochure of the murals, call EGI at (888) 205-0914. You can
also view and purchase the murals online at www.primoproducts.com. Murals are
also sold at Sherwin Williams, Lowe's and Home Depot.
